Our Story
Being a black, woman business owner in the trades in Southern California isn’t easy.
But Shanese Wells isn’t intimidated by that—or anything else related to foundations and drainage. Shanese spent years as a project manager for foundation repair projects, quickly determined that most of these issues were caused by poor drainage, and decided to provide the solution. In partnership with her husband Darin and our sister company, Professional Foundation Repair, Shanese launched Professional Drainage Experts, and we’ve become the leading provider of quality, customized drainage solutions in Orange and Los Angeles Counties.
Shanese is uniquely skilled in assessing foundation issues and drainage situations and educating customers on their needs. Even if a customer doesn’t end up going with us, Shanese wants them to have the information to make an educated decision. While most contractors are white males, Shanese finds that being a black, woman business owner can be an advantage. She is approachable and often finds that surprise plays into inspections and customer satisfaction since no one expects her to be as knowledgeable as she is–or as open. Shanese’s customer focus is pervasive and has become a way of life for our company.

Our owners, Shanese and Darin Wells, are both products of single-mother households, and are familiar with the struggles endemic to families of this nature – both here, and across America. Both of them needed scholarships to attend college, and they got them. Both of them believe that growing up watching their mothers struggle to make ends meet and play all roles is part of what makes them successful. Their work ethic, commitment to quality, and belief in equality have helped them build a diverse team that delivers honest solutions that work, and that stand the test of time.
During the pandemic, Shanese and Darin helped with things like groceries for single-mother households, and continue to donate to foundations that support these families. In addition, to help ease the struggle of others who face similar circumstances, the company provides scholarships for children of single mothers and donates to charities that support these families.
Shanese and Darin are active in their church fellowship, and also want to help the homeless epidemic in Southern California, and will often visit encampments to provide things like socks and toiletries to the unhoused.
